Yandere - Game Review

My neighbor is a Yandere is a sex game that doesn't work very hard for your attention and hopes your just in it for the fap. Your classic story of man wakes up from coma, has no clue what is going on, and finds he is being taken care of by a slightly unbalanced mentally ill yet very attractive caregiver. I mean it is practically every mans fantasy right? It's late at night after a hard days work and I just want to wind down with a simple and brainless sex game to relieve my stress and this one might just be what I am looking for.

Story:

My neighbor is a yandere? Is a story about a man named Seijuro who fell ill and into a coma. After 7 years out he snaps back to life and at first remembers nothing of who he is. He awakens to find that a very attractive woman named Nanase is tending to his needs as a caretaker. She tries to refresh your missing memory by explaining that she has been waiting 7 years for me to wake up from a coma. Soon I realize this is my neighbor from long ago. She explains that we live in her house together and we will spend the rest of our lives together. Look, the story in this game is shallow and half assed. If you are looking for a compelling back story and interesting character arcs this will not be your game.

Writing:

The writing here is simply best described as mediocre. The writing achieves its modest task but with very little creativity and effort. AT times the cheesy long winded descriptive monologues about what Nanase is doing to Seijuro's body cross over the line of corny and can tend to ruin the mood depending on your own sensitivities. The writing lacks creativity and the kind of passion that keeps the reader engaged. For a game that is relying heavily on the writing due to the lack of voice overs, lacking in the writing department is a big problem. Then again if all your looking to do is bust your nut and go to sleep this game may be worth your time.

Art And Graphics:

The art work for Yandere is actually quite good for what it is. There is very little animation so what we are left with is a series of still pictures. Nanase's facial expressions do change at 1FPS. Animation is something this game has none of so if your looking for movement your not in luck here. If I am judging the art alone I think the drawings are very well done and of high quality. But graphics, animation, frame rates, and more are things that cannot even be gauged since they simply do not exist. Nanase's body drawing never changes while only her facial expressions occasionally change which can come off a bit cheap and half hearted. Now for the only reason you would ever play this pile of trash, the nudity! Yes this game has some hot nude scenes on two occasions in the game. And yes they are hot and well drawn and your pants may seem to be shrinking in size... look if this is all you are playing for than you will definitely like the smut in this game. Also, while this is not graphics related it is still important. This game suffered from numerous crashes while being tested on a 3,000 dollar PC. It made the process of reviewing the game a pain and if your sitting there with your dick in your hand trying to squeeze out some knuckle children it is going to annoy the hell out of you especially.

Sound:

I wish I had something good to say here, I really do. Yandere's sound is well, bad. It really is a complete shit show. Take a synthesis keyboard from a toy store and use one of the built in generic beats accompanied by horribly composed bashing of keys and you get this games soundtrack. The music is barely sensible for the scenes during which it plays. The music just sucks, and it sucks bad. Sound effects and voice overs are almost non-existant. I would be less critical of the lack of sound effects if it were not for the fact that the game actually does have sound effects just ones that do not matter at all. In the places where sound effects were crucial they are nowhere to be found.

Conclusion:

My standards from what makes a great sex game may be higher than most but in this reviewers opinion there are better options out there than my neighbor is a Yandere. From the horrible sound and music, to the lack luster writing it just seems like more effort could and should have been put into this game. Now if your just trying to get your rocks off this game my serve as a useful option.
