Gods of Hentai - Game Review

Video Review By HornyToonDog:
Introduction:
Eroges is making bold claims about Gods Of Hentai. "The first ever true MMORPG hentai game". At first glance, I must say I was impressed and almost convinced before sitting down and even playing. It seemed to have all the bells and whistles you expect from a fully functional flagship MMORPG. The question is what is under the surface and is that thing any good.... let's talk about that.

Story:
This story is full of plot holes and is kind of incomplete which is a bummer I guess. I mean with MMORPG's you almost expect a thorough story with no loose ends. This game instead throws a theme and a basic outline at you and expects you to use your imagination for the rest. Basically, you are a magical warrior entering a magical land filled with gods, fiends, demons, and witches. You encounter members of the various factions in the world and are asked to set out on quests to fight the fiends and other enemies of the factions. Doing the quests bring great rewards and advance you in the "story".

Writing:
While the story may be weak the writing sure isn't. The writing here is actually quite good. When I did the let's play video I found myself even making up voices for each character because the writing reflected tons of personality for those characters. Where the writing really shines is during the dating sequences. It is almost as if they hired the cheesy romantic novel writer for these parts and I mean that in a good way. The narration is elaborative and thoughtful. The writing is reserved when it needs to be and when a situation calls for simplicity and then goes into full-on long-winded mode for more intimate occasions.

Art And Graphics:
The artwork in this game is amazing. It is bright and crisp and just stunning. The shading and coloring are done very well. The concepts that were created for ornate bare-breasted borders around functions screens and the design of the architecture is stunning, to say the least. As far as graphics are concerned this is not good at all. the graphics are very weak and almost pixelated. At first, I wondered how they achieved such fast load screens and I quickly realized it is the extremely low resolution of the graphics. The pixels are too big and the animations are a joke.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is okay but not great. Let me explain why. First of all the game is just too easy and automatic. It should be harder and more challenging but instead, it feels sterilized and dumbed down. You could play the entire campaign if you wanted to by using nothing except for the right mouse button. That is an issue because this is not meant to be a short game and the player must not be left in a monotonous situation or you risk losing them. The battle and fight scenes are completely automated and simulated leaving the player with his or her hands in the lap just watching and waiting for it to end so they can get back to upgrading and enhancing their player stats in between battles. This, in my opinion, is a big missed opportunity. Just the slightest amount of player interaction during battles would make a huge difference in the flow of the experience. Also, the game has a ton of different currencies, points, and sources of fuel for upgrades and character optimization. The game hardly explains what a lot of this stuff is for and exactly what the benefits are of upgrading one thing or another thing. For a game that holds your hand through the campaign making the experience feel too easy, it sure goes in the opposite direction when the player really needs a good explanation of the finer in game mechanics.

Sound:
This game has some of the worst sounds I have ever experienced in a game. The music at first seemed okay but then I realized how limited it was. This became a repetitive experience hearing the same music over and over again. The same experience was to be had with the game sound effects as far as clicking buttons and other things the sounds are limited and repetitive. The huge let down is the battle scenes which for some incredibly stupid reason have absolutely no sound effects. How can so much magic and weaponry be slung around in a noisy battlefield and the game be completely silent during all of it? It is a bizarre experience that left me flabbergasted. if this was an anomaly or a mistake or some sort of glitch let me know Eroges because it is so strange I was left scratching my head.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, Gods Of Hentai is an amazing concept that is bold and daring. They pull off the bare bones of what a good MMORPG should be while seamlessly weaving in hentai elements to fit into the sexualized theme. Unfortunately horrid sound and lackluster graphics contribute to dumbing down what would otherwise be a slam dunk experience. The game needs to spend less time holding your hand for simple self-explanatory things and spend more time explaining the hard to understand mechanics of the stats and upgrade system. The writing is the saving grace of Gods Of Hentai and you should play it just for the writing if nothing else. if you want to enjoy a leisurely MMORPG experience while enjoying amusing romance novel typewriting for the sexualized scenes than this may be the experience you are looking for.
